Very nice boot, different from usual boots

I have disliked my old boots for a long time and when the waterproofing started to fail I was happy for an excuse to buy these! I read every single review before doing so. It’s a lot of money to spend.

So- the grounding technology. Yes I can feel it. Noticeable difference when walking on grass and walking on asphalt. Boots more comfortable on grass.

Boots were stiff initially. The wide-spaced toe thing is very different to usual walking boots which ‘squeeze’ the feet. But I was aware that my feet weren’t moving around at all, even though they had space to do so. This is great for not developing blisters! The ankle is tight and still a little stiff: I am currently leaving the top 2 hooks unlaced (and grateful to the previous reviewer who found out the hard way that it’s easy to trip with loose bootlace loops, and the bahé team explanation of the little elastic loop to hold them…)

The ‘zero-drop’ thing. I am used to this with 4 other pairs of barefoot shoes. However, I have found that the tightness of the ankle area combined with calves being in a more ‘stretched’ position (since the heel is not raised at all) has created a tendency for my Achilles tendon to rub at the back on my right leg, and it’s become sore. I gave the boots a break for a day, and came back to them with a slight alteration, I added a very small heel insole made out of sheep’s wool (I improvised). Although this has undoubtedly reduced the grounding capacity a little bit, it has made my foot more comfortable in the boot.

So my current position is that I’m enjoying wearing them in this new, amended form. I will continue to experiment with the heel-insole thing as the ankle section softens up.

They are definitely decently waterproof. I have experimented with that, walking through lots of long wet grass, in a decent fall of rain, and cleaning dog poo off one of them in a river. Feet completely dry.

I did buy the weird toe-socks as well. They’re good socks; I haven’t done a controlled test with normal socks, but I like them well enough.

Nice boot but doesn't last long

My partner bought me these towards the end of July. The boots are light and comfortable. My big toe has plenty of room and the heel is tight with no slip. Unfortunately this is the end of the positives. I would like to boots to be a bit taller and have a longer gusset but this is the least of the boots issues. The boots do not come across as being high quality given the high price and the fabric where the front of the foot bends. This has caused a white mark on both boots. The biggest issue is that the tread, which is very grippy, has worn down most of the way to after just over 2 months of what is admittedly heavy use. My last pair of boots I wore to work lasted over 2 years for a similar price. Unfortunately the durability of the tread would be bad on a cheap pair of shoes but on a boot this expensive is unacceptable.

On the positive side I did email the company and they have suggested returning the boots which was good and I will have to take them up on this. This is a massive shame as I like the fit of these boots and wished they lasted longer. It feels like a few months of wearing these boots in testing would have revealed this draw back.

Will be great during winter in the outdoors

I only wear barefoot with minimal thickness around 3mm. These boots are a lot thicker than I’m used to so won’t be wearing them regularly but I am excited to finally find what I think will be a waterproof sturdy (in my opinion not too barefoot) boot for Scottish highlands in winter. I will swap out the minimal sole for the sturdyness.

Women’s Hiking Boot

Brilliant to walk in, no pressure on my toes, but unfortunately they are not waterproof.
