FAQ

Q: Do your shoes fit true to size? Can I order my normal size?

As there are inconsistencies between different brands, it’s not always reliable to rely on ordering your usual size. We’d always recommend using our Size Guide to check the fit and avoid unnecessary returns, especially as our barefoot-style shoes do fit slightly larger than other brands offering this kind of product. Please read our other FAQs for more insight into sizing.

Q: I’m between sizes, which should I go for?

If you’re looking at our Recharge style we suggest going for the size up.

On all other styles, we suggest going for the size down.

Q: Are all your shoes the same sizing?

No, we have some different fits, so check the size chart that corresponds with the shoe you’re ordering.

Q: Is there a difference between the mens and womens sizing?

We have different size charts as the same shoes are considered different sizes between men and women in the US and Australia. The fit of both mens and womens shoes is the same.

Q: How much room should I have in front of my toes?

This is personal preference, however we suggest between 5-10mm. A good way to check is to put on a pair of shoes that fit you well and assess the space you have on these. You can do this whilst wearing the shoes, or even slip the insole out and place your foot on them with your heel at the back and check the space you have in front of your toes.

If checking the sandal size guide, please remember you’ll want space at the back of the footbed as well as the front.

Q: I don’t have a printer, what shall i do?

Not to worry, the next best thing is to stand against a wall and simply place your foot on a piece of paper and draw around it. Then to measure the length and ideally the width of your foot. Depending on preference, you’ll want around 5-10mm space in front of your toes, so check our size guide for the length that corresponds best with that.

A good tip is to draw around your foot whilst wearing the kind of socks you’d intend to wear with the shoes you’re ordering.

Q: The size guide keeps cutting off part of the shape when printing, what shall I do?

If the top part of the page printed OK then you can still check the width is a good fit. To check the length, we’d suggest following the method described in

Q: The size guide isn’t printing to scale, what should I do?

Without the correct scale the size guide won’t be useful for sizing purposes, but it’s always handy to be able to assess the general shape. To check your size we’d suggest following the method described in.

Q: Should my foot match the length mentioned in the size chart?

No, you will need some space in front of your shoes. We’d suggest 5-10mm depending on preference.

Sturdy boots

To be honest I bought these boots as a replacement for a pair of Vivos that let me down, they fell apart in 6 weekends on the Scottish mountains. I was looking for something that felt a bit sturdier and these certainly feel that way. They're comfortable and I feel they'll withstand my off piste hiking much better. My only disappointment was I had wet feet on day one. However I find this with all lightweight waterproof boots. The boggy hillsides in Scotland are just too much for them. I have to wear a boot liners which then negates the grounding effect.

Hiking and gardening shoes

I am an avid gardener with a large 500’ waterfront perennial garden. These shoes have room for my toes, they are flexible and grounded! I had used shoes that did this, but they were not waterproof. Now I have a pair that does it all! I do not have to garden with wet feet anymore. They clean up easily, look great and feel even better. I look forward to taking these shoes on my next hiking adventure.

Good Boots, some thoughts...!

I am loving these boots so far. My recent ankle surgery is making them difficult to get on my swollen ankle. I feel the opening for the boot should be wider. Once I struggle through that and they are on my feet, they fit perfectly. I was worried about the size. I wore Altras for years and wore a size 10. With these I am a size 9. I know I am a true 9.5 but this 9 fits like a glove with room for my toes. (Hope this helps someone with fit) The boots are sturdier than I imagined, but I am happy with this. I didn’t want something so flimsy because I want to be able to hike in these when my ankle heals and these will definitely be awesome for hiking. I don’t care so much about the waterproof feature, and wish instead you would focus on making BREATHABLE boots. Lots of airflow. I saw this one company and every step circulates air through the shoe. I think this is an excellent idea. My feet sweat a lot and I don’t wear sandals. Please consider this for future products! The flex and ground feel with the boots is great. They do seem like a true hybrid barefoot shoe. The lugs on the bottom are spaced out but maybe too much so. My driveway is gravel and the small rocks get stuck in the tread and I have to pick them out with my hands (sometimes). Something to think about… As far as the conductivity, I tried using a continuity tester but wasn’t sure if it was working or not. I used wool/polyamide socks and couldn’t tell if I was grounded or not. Maybe they need more grounding treads on the bottom. I will continue testing this feature. For my swollen foot, the shoelaces are barely long enough. My other foot, they are plenty long. These boots have a very nice look and I am happy with them. I tried them on wet rock and it was a little on the slick side. I think if you added more siping (similar to how astral shoes does) they would be unstoppable. These mentioned features would make a perfect boot. Cheers

We can reply to the points you raised :
- We’re glad you’ve got your feet in OK! In fact, for all future production runs we’ve made this opening slightly larger to make this even easier
- We understand your request for breathability over water-proofing, this is definitely something we’ll bear in mind for future developments if we do more of a summer hiker!
- The grounding should be fine with almost all socks, but naturally fresh on, thicker synthetic socks may be more insulated. As your feet perspire a little the conductivity of the socks should improve. From late May 2025 we’ll have grounding socks available for the optimal connection! So keep an eye out
- We do sell spare laces in different lengths so that could be an option while you have a swollen ankle
