If Your Shoes Feel Too Roomy: Try This
If Your Shoes Feel Too Roomy: Try This
Bahé shoes are designed to fit differently - more room at the front, secure at the heel and midfoot. If you're new to foot-shaped footwear, that roominess can feel unfamiliar at first, but it's exactly what your feet need to move naturally.
A good fit looks like this:
- Around 10mm of space between your toes and the front of the shoe
- Toes able to spread without being squeezed at the sides
- Secure midfoot
- Heel sitting snug with minimal slipping
If it still feels too roomy, adding an extra insole can make a real difference. Watch the video for how to check your fit and what to try if you want a more snug feel.
If Your Shoes Feel Too Tight: Try This
If Your Shoes Feel Too Tight: Try This
Your Bahé shoes should feel secure, not tight. Your toes should have room to move freely, with a secure feel through the midfoot and heel.
If things feel a little snug, start by loosening the laces to give your foot more room. If that doesn't quite do it, try removing the insole - this creates a little extra space and some people prefer the additional ground feel it gives.
Our waterproof styles - especially the hiking boots - can feel a little more structured at first because of their construction. They should not feel tight, but bear in mind they will soften a little with wear.

Not Sure About The Cushioning Level
Not Sure About The Cushioning Level
Getting the cushioning level right is personal - it depends on your foot strength, your activity, and what feels good to you.
Some Bahé styles come in different Modes - Flex, Adapt, and Endurance - each offering a different level of ground feel and underfoot cushioning.
Most styles also have a modular insole setup, so you can wear them with or without the insole, or add an extra one - giving you up to 6mm of cushioning variation within the same shoe.
If your calves or Achilles are feeling the change, a heel lift can also help ease the load while you adjust.

FAQs
Foot-shaped shoes often feel different at first - that’s the point. Bahé shoes should still feel comfortable when you first try them on. You’re looking for room in the toes, a secure midfoot and a locked-in heel. The main thing to check is the length in front of your toes. They shouldn’t feel tight or loose - just secure, with room where it matters.
A quick way to sense-check fit:
- Toes: room to spread naturally, without touching the front or feeling pinched
- Midfoot: secure, but not tight or crushing
- Heel: locked-in and stable, without excessive slipping
Because Bahé shoes are designed with a natural foot shape and wider toe box, they may feel roomier than traditional footwear at first. That’s normal, as long as the shoe still feels secure through the midfoot and heel.
And remember Bahé’s modular fit. Most styles can be worn with or without an insole, and many people add an extra insole to dial in a snugger feel. If you want more space and ground feel, remove the insole. If you want a more secure fit or a little more cushioning, add an extra insole.
Not necessarily. Bahé shoes are designed with a natural foot shape and wider toe box, so the toe area will feel roomier than in conventional shoes. What matters is that your toes have space without touching the front, and that the shoe still feels secure through the midfoot and heel. If it feels a little loose through the midfoot or heel, first adjust the lacing, then try adding an extra insole. If it still doesn’t feel secure, you may need a smaller size.
A quick way to check whether an extra insole will help is to take the insole out of one shoe and place it inside the other, upside down so it fits. That will give you a quick sense of whether ordering an extra pair of insoles is likely to improve the fit.
No. Your toes should not feel pressed against the front, top, or sides of the shoe. If the fit feels only slightly tight, try removing the removable modular insole to create a little more space. Many customers find this resolves minor fit issues. If your toes are still touching after removing the insole, you likely need the next size up.
The Rediscover boots do soften with use. Like most waterproof boots, they're built with multiple layers for durability and weather performance - which means they can feel a little more structured at first. The fit should be comfortable from day one, but you'll notice the upper and sole ease and flex more naturally after a few wears.
Bahé shoes should feel comfortable straight away and do not usually need a break-in period. Some of our waterproof styles may soften a little more with use, but they should still feel comfortable from the start.
Heel slip can be a sign that the shoes are a little roomy, so the first thing to check is your toe room. You're looking for around 10mm of space between your longest toe and the front of the shoe - if there's noticeably more than that, the shoes may be slightly big.
It's also worth making sure you're using the top eyelets when lacing up, as these help lock the heel in place. If that doesn't fully resolve it, try adding an extra insole or a heel lift - both bring your foot up slightly and can give a noticeably snugger fit.
Yes. Extra insoles can make the fit feel snugger (less volume), and can add a bit more underfoot comfort. They’re a simple way to fine-tune without changing size.
They can. A small heel lift can make the early zero-drop transition feel smoother for some people and can help with heel security. They’re typically used temporarily, then reduced over time as you adapt.
