We launched our first sandal in September 2024. To say the least, it wasn’t the ideal time to launch a summer style for a brand based in the northern hemisphere, but after over a year in development we didn’t want to delay the launch until the following spring!
And now we’re here, in the next spring, and we’re certainly glad that we launched when we did for two big reasons.
Firstly, we’re delighted to have helped people ground in our adventure sandals over the last few months and feel very grateful for all of the positive feedback we’ve received.
Secondly, having been able to gather detailed customer feedback, we’ve made several small, but significant tweaks to the style which means that our updated version is now better than ever, and we’re excited to be have launched it in June 2025.
When we started Bahé, our focus was creating the best possible products for their intended purpose. We don't make changes just for the sake of it, unlike many other sports brands. So, the changes we do make come from improving what we do to ensure every change delivers real benefits for grounding, barefoot-style comfort, and natural movement. Between each production run, we always refine and enhance based on your input, again showing that we do listen and care.
Our Respire style has seen its biggest set of upgrades to date. Let's dive into what's the same and what's new about our grounding sandal.
The much loved features that are the same:
Grounding on the go
Of course there is, it’s what we do! We’ve had to work a little differently with our sandals as they are made using different processes to our shoes, so we got our thinking caps on and reinvented our 'ground flow system’ for this purpose. The conductivity needed to keep you grounded is achieved using our normal 65% natural rubber outsole featuring a carbon additive, and we created a unique webbing with a soft stainless steel yarn inside the strap to guarantee you get the greatest connection with the earth.
Barefoot-friendly features
The aim with the sandal was to give your feet ultimate freedom, with the flat, flexible and zero-drop footbed along with the simple toe post upper, the design allows your toes to spread and move as nature intended.

A massage on the move
This feature got A LOT of love from our first launch. With a footbed covered in a texture of small triangular pyramids, the base of your foot is stimulated with each step, providing better grip and enhanced proprioception. Trust us, your feet will appreciate it!
Grip
'If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ - When designing the outsole of the sandal, we took reference from our Revive running shoe which offers incredible grip in all directions thanks to the uniform tread pattern. Using this design with it’s 2.5mm lugs makes for the ideal running or adventure sandal.
Versatility
Our aim is to support your movement and add grounding to your day however and wherever you move. Our sandals are designed in natural, earthy colours with subtle branding meaning that they will go with your look wherever your adventure takes you.
Sustainable materials
We’ve created the new sandal with the same materials as the first, aiming to reduce our impact on the earth as we help you to reconnect with it. The upper straps are 100% recycled, the footbed is 30% sugarcane and the outsole is 65% natural rubber, plus as standard, we plant a tree for every pair sold.
What’s new?
Toe post wizardry
Excuse us for a moment to get a bit geeky about shoe-making… We work with a production partner that Alex has known for almost 15 years, and that’s for a good reason, they are very, VERY good at what they do. Sometimes it’s simple innovations that make the biggest difference, and this one is small, but significant. Not only do our webbing straps have precisely woven stainless steel sections for grounding, but now we’ve also developed a webbing strap that blends from a wider section which comfortably supports the foot, seamlessly into a thinner toe-post section that neatly holds your foot in position. By blending the shape this way we’ve avoided the need for any additional materials or stitching meaning there will be no irritation and the ultimate comfort.
Extra adjustment
To make the sandals as easy as possible to optimise for your foot shape, we've included velcro fastening at the front and back on the original version. Now, with the update, we’ve added an extra o-ring which means that if you have a low volume foot or want a more snug fit, you can loop the strap through here to get an even better lock down!
Better foot alignment
The challenge when creating an adventure sandal is delivering the performance of a shoe in terms of grip and comfort, but with as few straps as possible for ultimate foot freedom, therefore the positioning of these straps is vital! Although the initial style worked well, we identified opportunities to align the foot better by moving the toe post inwards slightly and making the back straps hug the foot better. This small amount of added support helps give you extra confidence and freedom as you move through nature.
Enhanced durability for your adventures
We’ve beefed up the thickness of our o-ring slightly meaning that you can tackle the great outdoors with total confidence.
Our goal is to make the ultimate adventure sandal that you can wear from the cafe to the coast, from the mountain to the trail and we have worked hard, and listened even harder to try and achieve that!
