FAQs
Yes. Rediscover is a barefoot-style hiking boot. It has the core features people expect from barefoot footwear: a wide, foot-shaped toe box, zero-drop sole, flexible construction and natural ground feel.
Rediscover is not an ultra-minimal boot, though. Unlike some barefoot hiking boots that use only a rubber outsole underfoot, Rediscover also has a thin 6mm EVA midsole. This adds a little cushioning, making the boot feel more forgiving on longer walks, hikes and everyday wear - especially if you are new to barefoot hiking boots.
That extra cushioning means Rediscover feels slightly more structured and less flexible than very minimal barefoot boots. This is intentional: it gives you a more protective, trail-ready feel while still keeping the key barefoot principles. Like most hiking boots, it will also soften and flex more with wear.
Yes. Rediscover does feel more structured than some barefoot boots, especially very minimal styles.
That comes from three things: the waterproof membrane, reinforcement panels, and a thin 6mm EVA midsole. Together, they give Rediscover a more protective, trail-ready feel than the most minimal barefoot boots, which often use only a rubber outsole underfoot.
The trade-off is that Rediscover feels a little thicker, firmer and less flexible than ultra-minimal barefoot boots. The benefit is more underfoot comfort, weather protection and outdoor confidence for longer walks and hikes.
It still follows the key barefoot principles: wide foot-shaped toe box, zero-drop sole and natural ground feel. It is just not designed to be the thinnest or softest barefoot boot possible.
Probably not. If your main priority is maximum ground feel, the thinnest possible sole and an extremely soft, flexible barefoot boot, Rediscover may feel more structured than you want.
Rediscover is barefoot-fit and zero-drop, but it includes a thin 6mm EVA midsole, waterproof membrane and reinforcement panels. These add comfort, protection and durability for hiking and longer wear, but they also make the boot slightly thicker, firmer and less flexible than the most minimal barefoot boots.
It is still much more flexible and natural-feeling than most conventional hiking boots. But it is not designed to be the most minimal boot possible. Rediscover is best if you want barefoot principles with a little more outdoor protection and underfoot comfort.
Rediscover should feel comfortable from the first wear, provided you have the right size and fit. You should not need a painful break-in period.
That said, Rediscover is a hiking boot, so it will naturally soften and flex more with wear. The sole and upper may feel a little more structured at first, especially compared with very minimal barefoot boots, but the flexibility will increase as the boot starts to move with your foot.
We recommend wearing them indoors first to check the fit before heading out. If you feel sharp rubbing, pressure points or your toes feel restricted, the fit may not be right.
Yes. Rediscover is designed as a fully waterproof barefoot hiking boot, with a waterproof membrane, gusseted tongue construction and reinforced upper panels to help keep your feet dry in rain, wet grass, muddy paths and everyday wet conditions.
Like all waterproof boots, they have limits. Water can still enter over the top of the boot, and they are not designed for deep water submersion. For best performance, make sure the tongue is sitting flat, the boots are laced securely, and the upper is kept clean so the waterproof construction can do its job.
The trade-off is that waterproof boots can feel warmer and less breathable than non-waterproof footwear, especially in hot conditions.
If you haven't yet ordered, we have a helpful printable size guide here. Start with your usual size, then check your foot length against our printable size guide while wearing the socks you plan to use with the boots.
Rediscover is foot-shaped, so your toes should have room to spread naturally. But because it is a waterproof hiking boot with reinforcement panels, it can feel more structured and slightly more secure than our running shoes in the same size.
If you already have your boots, we suggest you check three things:
- Your toes can spread and do not touch the front on downhill-style movement.
- Your midfoot feels secure, not squeezed.
- Your heel feels held, with no major slipping.
If your toes feel restricted or you feel pressure across the top of the foot, they may be too small or too low-volume for your foot. If your foot slides forward or your heel lifts heavily, they may be too big.
Yes. Rediscover has a modular fit, so you can fine-tune the feel slightly with the insole setup.
If the boots feel a little snug, you can remove the insole for more internal space and increased ground feel.
If the boots feel a little roomy, you can add an extra insole for more cushioning and a more secure fit.
This is useful if you are between sizes, changing sock thickness, or want to adjust the boot for different walks and conditions. If the boots feel sharply tight, your toes are restricted, or your heel is slipping heavily, you may need a different size rather than an insole adjustment.
Yes, Rediscover can be a good option if you are new to barefoot hiking boots, especially if you want a more forgiving feel than very minimal barefoot styles.
Rediscover is foot-shaped and zero-drop, but it also has a thin 6mm EVA midsole. That gives a little extra cushioning underfoot, which can make it more comfortable for longer wear and a more approachable starting point than the most minimal barefoot boots.
We still recommend building up gradually. If you are new to zero-drop footwear, start with shorter walks and everyday wear before using them for long hikes. Pay attention to how your feet, calves and Achilles feel during and after use, then increase time and distance steadily.
If you want a little more cushioning or a snugger fit, you can add an extra insole. If the change to zero-drop makes your calves feel unusually loaded, our 4mm heel lifts can help reduce the abruptness while you transition.
Rediscover is best for beginners who want barefoot principles with a little more structure and outdoor protection - not for people who want the thinnest, softest boot possible from day one.

How Grounding Boots Work
How Grounding Boots Work
Our Ground Flow System is a conductive pathway from foot to ground. On grounded surfaces, it can reconnect you with the earth’s natural electrical energy.
1 - Conductive stitch on insole
2 - Lasting board with conductive stitch
3 - Conductive loop through midsole
4 - Conductive additive in outsole
Conductive in accordance with EN ISO 20347:2022. - Making them certified to have close to zero electrical resistance.
